Jan 16 (Reuters) – The U.S. and Taiwan reached a alternate deal on Thursday below which Taiwanese companies will invest $250 billion to lift manufacturing of semiconductors, energy and synthetic intelligence in the US.
The settlement involves $100 billion already dedicated by semiconductor huge TSMC in 2025, with extra to plot, in step with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
TSMC, the sphere’s biggest contract chipmaker, hinted at plans to make extra manufacturing means in the U.S. at some stage in its January 15 earnings call, but did no longer give an explanation for on any further funding beyond the $165 billion it has already dedicated.
