The European Investment Financial institution (EIB) has popular a €490 million financing for an interconnection mission that will discontinue the electrical isolation of Greek islands located within the Northeast Aegean Sea.
The IPTO North East Aegean Interconnection mission will join the island areas of Lemnos, Lesvos, Chios, Samos and Skyros to Greece’s mainland transmission grid via Nea Santa in Thrace to the north and Aliveri on Evia to the east.
This is able to perchance possibly also link the islands to the Dodecanese islands grid by skill of Mastichari on Kos to the south. The connection will basically utilize 150 kV alternating recent (AC) cable interconnectors and 150 kV fuel-insulated substations (GIS).
